Tuya integration

Pipe Home integrates with Tuya Cloud so you can manage cameras (and other Tuya devices) alongside Zigbee / BLE Mesh / IR / Modbus devices in one app — no need to install Tuya Smart or Smart Life separately.

Status

🟡 Pending Tuya review. The integration is complete; review typically takes 1-2 weeks. Once approved, you can link your Tuya account directly with Pipe Home.

Supported device types

Cameras (P1 — primary)

• Indoor cameras: pan/tilt, motion alerts, two-way audio
• Outdoor cameras: IP65/66, IR night vision
• Doorbell cameras: ring notifications + two-way audio
• Pet cameras, baby monitors: real-time feed

Most Tuya / Smart Life cameras are supported via Tuya Cloud Storage (7-day or 30-day plans) or the SD card in the camera.

Other Tuya devices (P2)

When demand grows we’ll expand to:

• Sensors: temperature-humidity, door, motion (Zigbee Tuya and Wi-Fi)
• Tuya Wi-Fi lights / switches
• Smart plugs with energy monitoring
• Robot vacuums (live status only, limited control)

Live view

Watch the live feed with ~1-2s latency. Supports:

• 1080p / 4MP / 5MP depending on camera
• Pan / tilt / zoom (motorized cameras)
• Save snapshots to your phone
• Two-way audio (talk through the camera)

Playback

Watch recordings from the SD card or Tuya Cloud:

• 24h / 7-day / 30-day timeline depending on plan
• Filter by motion event
• Download clips to your phone

Motion alerts

• Push notification when the camera detects motion
• Snapshot attached to the notification
• Can trigger automations (e.g. “when the front-door camera detects motion after 10 PM → turn on the hallway light + send an alert”)

Security + privacy

Cameras are privacy-sensitive devices. Please read the full Camera Policy before using.

Summary:

• In transit: TLS 1.2+ between camera ↔ Tuya cloud, app ↔ cloud
• At rest: AES on Tuya cloud
• Access: only the account owner + members you share with. Pipe Home cannot view your video feeds
• Region: per the Tuya data center you chose when creating your account (Asia – China or India)

Setup

1. Create a Tuya account (if you don’t have one) via the Tuya Smart app — one-time setup so Tuya Cloud knows about your camera
2. Pair the camera into Tuya Smart over Wi-Fi (per the camera’s instructions)
3. In the Pipe Home app: go to Profile → Linked accounts → Tuya
4. Sign in with Tuya — Pipe Home imports the camera list automatically
5. Place the camera in the matching home / room within Pipe Home
6. Review section 7 of the Camera Policy — make sure your placement and the rights of people in frame comply with local law

FAQ

I already use Tuya Smart, do I need to remove it?

No. You can still use Tuya Smart normally. Pipe Home is just a second interface to the same Tuya cloud data.

Can I use cameras that aren’t Tuya?

Currently only Tuya / Smart Life-compatible cameras. Hikvision / Dahua / Reolink are on the roadmap.

Does Tuya Cloud Storage cost go through Pipe Home or Tuya?

Charged by Tuya directly through the Tuya Smart app — Pipe Home isn’t involved. You can skip cloud storage and use the SD card if you want it free.

When I delete my Pipe Home account, are Tuya videos deleted?

No. Deleting Pipe Home revokes the link to Tuya, but videos on Tuya cloud remain — delete them separately in the Tuya Smart app or delete your Tuya account. See /en/legal/camera-policy/ §8.

The camera shows offline in Pipe Home but online in Tuya Smart?

Reset the link: Profile → Linked accounts → Tuya → Unlink → Re-link. The OAuth token will be refreshed.
