About Pipe Home

Story

Pipe Home grew out of the mPipe team’s hands-on experience deploying smart-home setups in apartments, villas and offices across Vietnam.

We kept running into three problems with off-the-shelf solutions:

Ecosystem lock-in — every brand uses a proprietary protocol, so device A doesn’t pair with gateway B.
Internet dependency — when the connection drops, automations stop, lights miss schedules, sensors don’t trigger.
Limited customization — non-trivial rules (“if the front door opens after 11 PM, send a notification and turn on the hallway light”) often exceed what vendor apps allow.

Pipe Home addresses all three: one multi-protocol gateway that runs automations locally, and one app that manages everything regardless of the device’s brand.

Mission

Help people in Vietnam own smart homes that are reliable, private and durable — not locked to a single brand, and not dependent on an overseas cloud for everyday actions.

Core values

Local-first — essential automations must work without internet.
Open — prefer standard protocols (Matter, Zigbee 3.0, BLE Mesh) over proprietary ones.
Private — device data stays on the gateway by default. The cloud is used only when needed (voice control, multi-device sync).
Transparent — privacy and terms in plain language, no buzzwords.

Team

Pipe Home is a product of the mPipe project. The team is currently focused on:

App — Flutter (iOS + Android)
Gateway firmware — ESP32 and ESP32-C6
Backend — self-hosted IoT platform on our VPS, with a cloud rule engine for server-side automations
Integrations — Google Smart Home Action, Tuya Cloud (camera)
